Accessibility Solutions for Urbana Residents & Businesses
Urbana blends rural charm with small-city convenience as the Champaign County seat, where monument square downtown anchors a community that stretches from the Urbana University area to the farmsteads at the edge of town. Just a short drive from natural treasures like Cedar Bog Nature Preserve and neighboring South Vienna, Urbana offers a quality of life that residents are reluctant to leave. Messer & Co. makes it possible to stay right where you are by adapting your home for safe, barrier-free living with wheelchair ramps, stair lifts, and grab bar installations.
Urbana's housing reflects its rural-meets-small-city character. You will find century-old two-stories near the square, mid-century ranches in the neighborhoods off U.S. 36, and farmhouses on the outskirts with unique access challenges. Near Grimes Field airport and along the roads toward South Vienna, homes often sit on uneven terrain with long approaches from the driveway to the front door. We design ramp systems and pathway solutions that account for grade changes, seasonal weather exposure, and the specific layout of your property.
Because of Urbana's proximity to our home base, we can respond quickly to service calls and consultations. Many Urbana homes benefit from combination projects—an exterior ramp paired with a stair lift inside and grab bars in the bathroom—and our close proximity means we can complete multi-phase installations efficiently with minimal disruption to your daily routine.
From our base, Urbana is one of the closest communities we serve—just about 20 miles away. We also work in surrounding Champaign County areas including Mechanicsburg, North Lewisburg, St. Paris, and Mutual, as well as nearby communities in Clark and Logan counties.
