Accessibility Solutions for Middletown Residents & Businesses
Middletown is a working-class city with deep roots in the American steel industry, and its housing stock reflects that history. Blocks of sturdy brick and frame homes built for mill workers in the early and mid-1900s line the neighborhoods around what was once the AK Steel campus, and many of those homes were designed for young families, not for aging in place. Messer & Co. helps Middletown residents retrofit these solid, well-built houses with wheelchair ramps, stair lifts, and grab bars so they can stay in the communities they have known for decades.
In the neighborhoods near Middletown Regional Hospital — around the Sunset Park and Lefferson Park areas — we frequently install exterior ramps on homes with raised front stoops and concrete steps that become hazardous in winter. The older homes along Verity Parkway and Central Avenue often have steep interior staircases where a straight or curved stair lift makes every floor accessible again. Downtown Middletown, now in the middle of a revitalization effort, has small commercial buildings where business owners need ADA-compliant entryway ramps. South of the city near the I-75 corridor, newer subdivisions and developments feature two-story construction where families request stair lifts and second-floor accessibility solutions. We also regularly serve Franklin, Monroe, Trenton, Liberty Township, and West Chester from our Middletown projects.
Many Middletown homes were built during the steel industry's peak — solid construction with thick walls, full basements, and steep stairways. Our team understands how to anchor ramps and lifts to these older structures without compromising their integrity, and we work efficiently to keep costs reasonable for the community.
Beyond Middletown proper, we serve Franklin, Monroe, Trenton, Liberty Township, and West Chester. If you are in Butler County or the adjacent townships, call us to schedule a no-obligation home assessment.
