Accessibility Solutions for London Residents & Businesses
London is the seat of Madison County and carries the quiet, self-reliant character of rural Ohio. The downtown courthouse square anchors a community where neighbors still know each other by name, and the surrounding countryside — home to some of Ohio's iconic covered bridges — reminds you that you are in the agricultural heartland even though Columbus is only thirty minutes east and Springfield is a short drive west. Messer & Co. appreciates that independent spirit, and we help London-area residents stay safely in their own homes with wheelchair ramps, stair lifts, and practical accessibility modifications.
Around the courthouse square and the older residential blocks of downtown London, many homes were built in the late 1800s to mid-1900s and feature raised front porches, steep interior stairs, and narrow hallways that were never designed with accessibility in mind. We build custom wooden ramps that accommodate these older home geometries and hold up to Madison County winters. London Correctional Institution is one of the area's largest employers, and we serve correctional staff and their families in the subdivisions along State Route 56 and State Route 42 who need aging-in-place modifications as they approach retirement. Out in the county, farmhouses on larger lots give us the space to design longer, lower-slope ramp systems that meet ADA guidelines without crowding the entry — a luxury that tighter suburban lots rarely allow. Madison County's covered-bridge country also means we occasionally work on properties with gravel drives and uneven grading, and we engineer ramp foundations that stay level and solid on rural terrain.
London's proximity to our shop means shorter travel time and lower mobilization costs for homeowners here — a practical advantage that lets us be especially responsive for urgent post-hospital-discharge installations.
From London we also serve West Jefferson, Mount Sterling, Plain City, South Charleston, and the surrounding Madison County townships. Our South Vienna shop is just a short drive away, making London one of the closest communities we serve.
